Food Price Stability in UAE Continues for Fifth Month

For the fifth consecutive month, the prices of essential food commodities in the UAE have remained at their lowest levels since June, as reported by the Ministry of Economy’s Price Monitoring Platform. This stability is welcome news for consumers, providing a sense of predictability in the market.

The cost of cooking oil has been stable, with prices starting from AED 5.1 for a 1.7 to 1.8-litre bottle, mirroring the rates recorded mid-year. The maximum price has also held steady at AED 18.6.

Similarly, the price of rice has maintained its minimum level at AED 4.2 per kilo, while the maximum price remains at AED 16, depending on the variety.

Stable Sugar and Pulses Prices

The price for sugar has not changed, with the minimum price holding steady at AED 2.3 per kilo, the same as in June. The maximum price saw a slight increase, now at AED 5.2.

In the pulses category, the lowest price remains unchanged at AED 3.8 per kilo, with the maximum price also constant at AED 10 for the second consecutive month.

Dairy and Poultry Prices

Milk has retained its minimum price at AED 3.5 per litre, although the maximum price has decreased from AED 7 to AED 5.7 since October.

For fresh yogurt, the lowest price has stabilised at AED 3.4 per kilo for two months, while powdered milk has seen a decrease in the minimum price to AED 15.3 in November.

The price of fresh chicken has also remained stable at AED 11.3 per kilo, with a slight change in the maximum price now at AED 22, up from AED 21.3 in October. The cost of table eggs remains unchanged at AED 0.23 for the lowest price, while the maximum price is at AED 0.7 per egg for the second month.

Flour and Bread Prices

Flour prices are unchanged from those recorded in October, with the minimum price at AED 6 and the maximum at AED 7.6. However, the price for a pack of white bread slices has increased in November to AED 6.14, compared to the lower price of AED 4.9 in October. The upper price remains stable at AED 9.17 since mid-year.

In summary, the consistency in food prices across various categories is a positive development, allowing consumers in the UAE to maintain their budgets effectively amidst fluctuating market conditions.
