Badr Al Qasimi Unveils Her Captivating New Book in Sharjah

الشارقة 24:

In an engaging and well-attended event at the 2026 Sharjah International Book Fair, Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the founder and CEO of Kalimat Group, proudly launched her new book “The Conference of the Birds” (“منطق الطير”), published by Kalimat Publishing in both Arabic and English.

A Modern Literary Perspective on an Ancient Tale

In this book, Sheikha Bodour reinterprets the classic narrative inspired by Farid al-Din Attar’s “The Conference of the Birds,” presenting it through a contemporary literary lens that weaves together fantasy and wisdom. Aimed at readers aged 8 to 12, the narrative embarks on a journey of self-discovery and inner transformation, highlighting essential values such as courage, perseverance, selflessness, self-confidence, and the importance of collaboration in facing challenges and instigating change.

An Environmental Message Amidst Despair

The beautifully illustrated book, featuring artwork by the talented Noushin Sadeghian, conveys an urgent environmental message set against a backdrop where forests are dwindling, and air pollution prevails. The narrative prompts readers to reflect on humanity’s responsibility for protecting life and emphasizes the role of collective action in restoring hope and building a better future.

The Quest Through Seven Valleys

The story begins with an assembly of birds from around the world gathered under the enchanting tree of Wuac, responding to the call of the wise hoopoe. As the smoke veils the sky and forests vanish, the birds set out on a quest to save their world. Leading them through seven valleys to Mount Qaf, where the mythical Simurgh resides, the hoopoe guides them in search of answers to their deepest questions.

However, the journey transcends mere distance; the birds confront their fears, seek liberation from their burdens, and learn to continue together, transforming their perspectives on the world and themselves. Throughout this adventure, the narrative connects the pursuit of answers in the external world with the discovery of innate abilities within, highlighting that collaboration acts as a source of courage and hope, affirming that overcoming challenges begins with the capacity for change and joint efforts.

Mythical Elements for Contemporary Issues

The book draws upon one of the most celebrated tales from literary heritage, reinterpreting its symbolic elements, particularly the hoopoe, the Simurgh, and the seven valleys, while addressing contemporary human and environmental issues. Nature is portrayed as an integral part of the world the birds strive to protect, and the journey serves as a reflection on the meanings of responsibility, perseverance, self-confidence, and selflessness.

“The Conference of the Birds” is published by Kalimat Group in both Arabic and English, adorned with illustrations by Noushin Sadeghian, and is proudly named after Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, the recipient of the 2025 Bologna Ragazzi Award.
