The UAE continues its humanitarian efforts to assist the people of Gaza, striving to help those affected by the difficult conditions faced by the Palestinian population. Amid a sharp drop in temperatures, which particularly impacts displaced families, various Emirati entities are working to provide urgent support and necessary aid to alleviate the suffering of civilians. These efforts reflect the UAE’s steadfast commitment to supporting its brothers and sisters in Gaza as part of a shared humanitarian collaboration to address the harsh challenges that require swift and effective intervention.
Initiatives by the Sharjah Charity Association
As part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to aid the people of Gaza, the Sharjah Charity Association continues its active participation in the winter relief airbridge, having contributed 75 tons of winter clothing. This initiative is part of the “Generous Knight 3” operation, where the association aims to meet the needs of affected families and improve their living conditions during the harsh winter months.
In this context, Mohammed Rashid bin Bayat, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Charity Association, stated that “the association’s contribution embodies its consistent humanitarian approach in supporting the Palestinian people.” He noted that the winter clothing was prepared according to urgent needs, ensuring that support reaches its beneficiaries in a timely manner, thus strengthening the collective humanitarian response.
Ongoing Relief Flights
A relief aircraft departed from Sharjah International Airport bound for Al-Arish Airport, carrying a shipment of aid provided by the association. These relief flights are part of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts to assist the people of Gaza, with various humanitarian organizations contributing to these campaigns. The Sharjah Charity Association focuses on its direct role in supporting relief efforts and meeting the basic needs of affected families.
Health and Living Conditions in Gaza
In light of the current humanitarian situation, Amani Al-Na’waq, spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross, reported that winter exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe faced by residents of the Gaza Strip. Living conditions are extremely difficult, with the population facing a severe shortage of clean water and sanitation services. These conditions expose hundreds of thousands, especially children and the elderly, to serious health risks.
Al-Na’waq explained that the absence of safe water and an effective healthcare system poses a significant risk for the spread of diseases such as diarrhea and typhoid, further straining hospitals. With the onset of winter, the suffering of the population intensifies, as thousands live in unsafe shelters vulnerable to heavy rainfall, making them susceptible to flooding from severe weather.
Challenges in Continuing Support
Despite the assistance that has been sent, needs remain and require faster support. The International Committee of the Red Cross confirmed the distribution of aid, including hygiene materials and essential supplies, but there is still an urgent need for long-term solutions to improve the situation. In light of these challenges, the UAE continues its effective and impactful humanitarian efforts to assist the people of Gaza.
