In a significant celebration of linguistic heritage, the “Bilarabi” initiative, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Knowledge, recently honoured the winners of the Outstanding Scientific Research Award during the 12th International Conference on the Arabic Language. This recognition highlights their valuable contributions to enriching Arabic knowledge and advancing scientific research, as well as enhancing the presence of the Arabic language across various scholarly and intellectual domains.
Supporting Arabic Research and Knowledge
This ceremony reflects the Foundation’s commitment to empowering researchers and innovators while encouraging specialised scientific output that aids in the development of the Arabic language. The initiative also focuses on strengthening the language’s status as a medium for science, knowledge, and innovation. Additionally, it supports studies that enhance teaching and learning methodologies and promotes the use of Arabic in scientific, technological, and digital fields.
Fostering Dialogue on the Arabic Language
During the conference, Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Knowledge, participated in a panel discussion titled “The UAE’s Efforts to Serve the Arabic Language.” He reviewed the Foundation’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the Arabic language’s knowledge role and enriching Arabic content, enabling creators and researchers to keep pace with rapid digital and technological changes.
A Commitment to Knowledge
Bin Huwaireb stated, “We believe that serving the Arabic language is a cognitive and civilisational responsibility that necessitates a collective effort to enhance its presence and role in knowledge production and dissemination. Accordingly, we work through integrated initiatives that support the Arabic language across various pathways.” He emphasised that the “Bilarabi” initiative promotes daily usage and boosts its digital presence, while the “Digital Knowledge Centre” provides reliable Arabic knowledge sources accessible to readers and researchers. Additionally, the Dubai International Writing Programme aims to discover and hone literary talents, enriching the Arabic library with high-quality publications, alongside the “Knowledge Lounge” initiative which fosters a culture of reading and extends dialogues about Arabic literature.

He added, “We take pride in annually honouring the researchers awarded the Outstanding Scientific Research Award as a tribute to their contributions to enriching knowledge in the Arabic language. We stress the importance of continuing to support scientific research and high-quality Arabic content, empowering new generations to use their language in learning, research, and creativity, thereby enhancing the Arabic language’s status as a vital player in the knowledge economy.”
Engaging the Youth in Arabic Language
The “Bilarabi” initiative is a prominent project launched by the Foundation to boost the use of Arabic, particularly among younger generations, solidifying its presence in the digital sphere through interactive activities, creative content, and community partnerships. It is preparing to organise its annual events at various shopping centres across the emirates in December, coinciding with International Arabic Language Day, celebrated on December 18 each year, continuing its efforts to celebrate the Arabic language and encourage its use in daily life and digital platforms.
