The UAE is poised to lead the regional logistics transformation, aiming to enhance the resilience of supply chains amid increasing global challenges. Through innovative strategies and close collaboration with industry partners, the UAE seeks to ensure the continuity of trade flows and develop effective, sustainable solutions that support its logistics infrastructure, making it a model in this field.
Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the Minister of Foreign Trade, chaired a high-level coordination meeting hosted by the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation at its headquarters in Dubai. The meeting was attended by senior officials from global shipping companies and representatives from maritime shipping associations, with the goal of strengthening joint efforts to tackle current challenges affecting regional supply chains. Also present were Abdullah bin Dmeithan, Chairman of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, and Dr. Abdullah BouSnaid, Director General of Dubai Customs, along with several executive leaders from the logistics and maritime sectors.
During the meeting, Al Zeyoudi reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to ensuring the continuity of trade and enhancing the resilience of regional supply chains. He highlighted the importance of working together with partners to develop innovative and sustainable solutions capable of addressing current challenges. He explained that high coordination among various partners reflects a consistent Emirati approach based on building partnerships and enhancing regional cooperation, thereby improving the efficiency and responsiveness of regional supply chains.
Collaboration and Coordination
For his part, Abdullah bin Dmeithan emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination and collaboration among all partners, noting the efforts made since the last meeting to ensure the flow of trade into the UAE. He explained that relevant authorities have closely collaborated to implement a range of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience of supply chains, including improving the efficiency of alternative routes such as the ports of Fujairah and Khorfakkan.
Innovative Solutions to Enhance Efficiency
Dr. Abdullah BouSnaid, Director General of Dubai Customs, presented key customs initiatives implemented to enhance the smooth flow of trade and operational efficiency. He reaffirmed Dubai Customs’ commitment to developing innovative solutions in partnership with stakeholders. Among the notable initiatives is the customs notification that allows the transit of goods through the green corridor with the Sultanate of Oman.
BouSnaid also discussed the pilot project for the advance cargo declaration system through shipping companies for all goods in the green corridor, in addition to plans to launch a new maritime route connecting the region to India. He noted that these efforts aim to enhance the resilience of supply chains and ensure their continuity through the implementation of well-thought-out and integrated initiatives.
These initiatives represent an additional step towards ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of supply chains in the UAE, reinforcing its position as a leading commercial and logistics hub both regionally and internationally.
