This impressive figure marks a significant rise from the previous year’s 17.1 million, illustrating a remarkable growth rate of 13.9%. With this achievement, the airport not only strengthens its position as a pivotal hub for air transport but also highlights its expanding role in the logistics and tourism sectors of the emirate.
Record-Breaking Passenger Traffic
According to the Sharjah International Airport Authority, the airport recorded a total of 116,657 flights in 2025, compared to 107,760 in 2024. This growth of 8.3% reflects the airport’s crucial role in enhancing air connectivity both regionally and internationally. The surge in passenger numbers and flight operations reaffirms the increasing demand for air travel and tourism, positioning the airport as a catalyst for economic expansion.
Growth in Air Cargo Operations
In addition to passenger traffic, the airport’s air cargo operations also experienced growth in 2025. The total volume of cargo handled rose to 204,323 tons, up from 195,909 tons in 2024. This upward trend showcases the vital role of the airport in supporting trade and supply chain integration. Furthermore, maritime cargo services have shown significant progress over the past three years, reaching 16,770 tons in 2025.
Strategic Initiatives and Investments

He emphasized that ongoing investments in infrastructure, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives are key to enhancing airport capacity and service quality. Such efforts align with the emirate’s economic and tourism aspirations, ensuring that the airport continues to thrive.
Enhancements in Flight Connectivity
Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, highlighted that the results of 2025 exemplify the airport’s role in bolstering travel and business activities, solidifying Sharjah’s status in the regional and international market. The airport has expanded its global reach by adding new direct routes to prominent capitals and cities, including Ahvaz, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas in Iran. The addition of four new international airlines—SalamAir from Oman, Caspian Airlines from Iran, Fly Cham from Syria, and Ethiopian Airlines—further enhances connectivity for passengers, promoting a network of over 100 global destinations.
As Sharjah Airport continues to grow, it stands as a testament to Sharjah’s ambition and capability as a leading transport hub in the region. Through strategic planning and robust investments, the airport is well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of the aviation industry and passenger travel.
