Dubai Incubator Aims to Transform Real Estate Brokerage Industry

In an ambitious move to bolster its real estate sector, Dubai has officially launched the Emirati Real Estate Business Incubator, aimed at training 50 firms and cultivating a new generation of brokers. This initiative is part of a wider strategy under the Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World campaign, which seeks to position the UAE as a global leader in entrepreneurship and innovation. By integrating technology and advanced training, the incubator plans to equip aspiring real estate professionals with the skills necessary for success in a competitive market.

The Dubai Land Department (DLD), in collaboration with Dubai Silicon Oasis, the New Economy Academy, and Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai (RIT Dubai), has spearheaded this initiative. It reflects the UAE’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurial spirit and economic growth.

Comprehensive Training Program

Scheduled to commence on October 27 at Dubai Silicon Oasis, the six-month incubator program will mentor 50 Emirati real estate firms, helping them evolve from individual brokers into fully operational agencies. Participants will navigate a comprehensive curriculum that includes essential topics such as:

  • Brokerage firm management
  • Regulatory and financial procedures
  • Market analysis
  • Feasibility studies
  • Business planning
  • Legal frameworks

This training will also encompass key areas like human resources, financial management, branding, marketing, and the application of technology and artificial intelligence in real estate. The aim is to empower participants with a multifaceted understanding that is crucial for thriving in the ever-evolving real estate landscape.

Building a Sustainable Future

Omar Hamad Bushahab, Director-General of the DLD, emphasized the goal of the incubator: “Through this incubator, we aim to build a new generation of Emirati brokers who can establish leading brokerage firms, contributing to the market’s sustainability and solidifying the UAE’s position as a global hub for real estate investment.” Under the Dubai Real Estate Broker Programme, the region has witnessed a significant uptick in Emirati participation, with 1,800 new brokers entering the field since its inception in 2024.

According to Bushahab, “In this timespan, Emirati brokers completed transactions worth AED10bn ($2.72bn),” highlighting the economic impact of increased Emirati representation in real estate. The initiative seeks to further empower Emirati firms to take on prominent roles in the sustainability and leadership of the UAE real estate sector.

Collaborative Efforts and Expert Insights

The launch event featured a panel discussion that included industry leaders such as Badr Buhannad, Dr. Laila Faridoon, Abdullah Al Shehi, CEO of Dubai Real Estate Regulatory Agency (RERA), and Mohammed Al Badwawi, CEO of Corporate Support at DLD. During the discussions, Buhannad stated, “Our collaboration with Dubai Land Department and the New Economy Academy, along with academic partners, will help provide a stimulating environment where participants can leverage an integrated ecosystem that merges technology, real estate, and entrepreneurship.”

Dr. Laila Faridoon of the New Economy Academy added, “We aim to provide advanced training that blends academic knowledge with practical application, focusing on project management, modern technology, and leadership capacity building.” This innovative approach is geared toward equipping participants with the necessary tools to build strong, competitive businesses.

Certification and Mentorship Opportunities

The Emirati Real Estate Business Incubator will also ensure that participants gain a profound understanding of the UAE’s real estate market while honing their professional conduct and client relationship management skills. Participants will be supported in creating comprehensive business plans that will enhance their competitive edge on local and regional stages.

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive an accredited certificate from the academic partners and will benefit from a year-long period of professional follow-up and individual mentorship from industry consultants. This strategic initiative aims to empower national talent and enhance the overall brokerage ecosystem, aligning with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable, knowledge-based economy.
