Dubai Launches First Phase of Al Hesa Street Revitalization

Dubai Roads Opens Phase One of Hessa Street Development Project

In a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure of Dubai, the Roads and Transport Authority has opened phase one of the Hessa Street development project. The initiative, aimed at improving traffic flow and expanding the road network, stretches from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Zayed Road over a distance of 4.5 kilometers. This project reflects the ongoing development in the Emirate of Dubai and aims to provide a smoother traffic environment for users. With 90% of the overall project completed, this opening marks a milestone in Dubai’s efforts to develop Hessa Street and expand the road network.

Road and Bridge Expansion

The first phase of the Hessa Street development project includes the expansion of bridges and intersections to accommodate four lanes, contributing to improved traffic flow. These expansions are expected to increase the street’s capacity from 8,000 vehicles per hour to 16,000 vehicles per hour. This enhancement will facilitate traffic coming from Al Khail Road through Hessa Street to Sheikh Zayed Road, helping to meet the needs of the growing population.

Importance of the Project for Population Growth

The Hessa Street development project is a crucial part of Dubai’s strategy to enhance road infrastructure. With an estimated cost of around 690 million dirhams, the project reflects the leadership’s directives to support ongoing urban development. Estimates suggest that by 2030, more than 640,000 residents in neighboring areas such as Al Sufouh 2, Al Barsha, and Jumeirah Village will benefit from the project. Thus, the project represents a vital step in bridging the gap between population growth and transportation needs.

Provision of Bicycle Paths

The Hessa Street development project also aims to enhance sustainable transportation options, as it includes the implementation of 13.5 kilometers of bike and electric scooter paths. This route, extending between Al Sufouh and Dubai Hills, will facilitate commuting and improve quality of life by providing alternative transportation options. The path features a unique bridge crossing Sheikh Zayed Road, offering a safe and seamless experience for users.

Details of Modern Intersections

The Hessa Street development project includes the development of four major intersections, each carefully designed to meet traffic flow requirements. Among these is the intersection of Hessa Street with Sheikh Zayed Road, where two-lane ramps are being developed. The other intersections have also been improved by increasing the number of lanes and implementing traffic enhancements, reflecting a continuous commitment to improving the safety and efficiency of the road network.

This project, aimed at developing Hessa Street, continues to shape the future of mobility in Dubai while enhancing the infrastructure to accommodate the expected population and economic growth in the city.
