In a significant move to bolster economic ties, the Dubai Businesswomen Council has organised a roundtable discussion in Shengen, China, as part of the recent “Dubai Business Forum – China.” This initiative, spearheaded by Dubai Chambers, brought together distinguished businesswomen from both the UAE and China, aiming to enhance collaboration, share expertise, explore new commercial and investment opportunities, and establish strategic partnerships.
Key Highlights of the Meeting
The meeting was presided over by Dr. Reem Issa Saleh Al Qirq, the founder and Chairperson of the Dubai Businesswomen Council, alongside council board members and a delegation of Emirati businesswomen. They were joined by prominent female leaders from various sectors of the Chinese business landscape. This gathering served as a platform for direct dialogue and exchange of ideas, fostering sustainable trade relations and opening new avenues for collaboration between the two countries’ business communities.
Empowering Businesswomen since 2002
Since its inception in 2002, the Dubai Businesswomen Council has been dedicated to enhancing women’s participation in Dubai’s business ecosystem. Through diverse initiatives and programmes, it aims to develop the skills of businesswomen, strengthen their professional capabilities, and provide essential mentorship for business growth. The council is committed to forming strategic partnerships that adapt to the ever-evolving needs of the business community.
Commitment to National Priorities
In alignment with the UAE’s national priorities, the council supports businesswomen and entrepreneurs in enhancing their projects and meeting the demands of the future workforce. This is achieved by equipping them with knowledge, practical tools, and best practices, alongside opportunities for career advancement and reintegration into the job market.
Expanding Networks and Opportunities
Dr. Reem Issa Saleh Al Qirq stated, “Over the last two decades, the Dubai Businesswomen Council has focused on advancing women’s capabilities, improving access to knowledge, and expanding professional networks to ensure their success in an increasingly competitive business environment. Through our programmes and partnerships, we aim to equip businesswomen with the tools needed to adapt to changes and seize promising opportunities.”
She further noted, “Engaging with Chinese businesswomen is a natural extension of this approach, given the robust economic relations between the UAE and China. This interaction opens up extensive opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and knowledge exchange, thereby fostering sustainable partnerships between the business communities of both countries.”
A Showcase of Dubai’s Business Potential
The roundtable also provided an opportunity to highlight Dubai’s strengths as a leading global business and investment hub. Discussions centred around the emirate’s advanced infrastructure, conducive business environment, and strategic location, which connects regional and international markets. Additionally, participants explored ways to enhance communication between Emirati and Chinese businesswomen, share market insights, and develop professional networks while identifying areas of mutual commercial interest.
Catalysing the Role of Women in the Economy
The presence of Emirati businesswomen from various sectors underscored the increasing contribution of Emirati women to the national economy and their role in establishing and developing internationally-oriented businesses. The roundtable discussions in Shengen form part of the Dubai Businesswomen Council’s ongoing efforts to empower women in business and expand their opportunities in global markets, thereby strengthening trade and investment links between the UAE and China.
Building Bridges for Future Cooperation
Continuing its mission, the Dubai Businesswomen Council is focused on enhancing international cooperation by building bridges between business leaders and entrepreneurs in the UAE and China. This initiative paves the way for new avenues for commercial and investment cooperation while supporting the development of sustainable economic partnerships between the two nations.
