The Union Coop has reasserted its commitment to empowering Emirati talents and enhancing their contribution to the retail sector across various management levels and branches. This initiative is aligned with the UAE’s broader vision and leadership directives aimed at fortifying the role of national competencies in the workforce.
According to Mohammad Al Hashimi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Union Coop, the company has achieved a localisation rate of 36% as of the end of June 2026. Additionally, 194 employees have benefitted from the alternative national service program, illustrating the cooperative’s ongoing efforts to create sustainable career opportunities for citizens and prepare them for diverse roles in the job market.
Moreover, Al Hashimi emphasised that the Union Coop is not solely focused on increasing the number of Emirati employees; it is dedicated to establishing sustainable career pathways that allow nationals to advance within managerial, leadership, and specialist roles. This is accomplished through targeted training and development programmes, practical qualification, and preparing national talents for impactful positions in store management, supply chain operations, digital transformation, and in-store operations management.
Looking ahead, the cooperative aims to progressively increase its localisation percentage while maintaining a focus on quality hiring and the sustainability of professional pathways for Emiratis.
