In a significant law enforcement operation, the National Anti-Narcotics Committee in the United Arab Emirates has successfully dismantled a criminal gang involved in drug trafficking. The joint effort, carried out in collaboration with the Dubai Police, the Sharjah Police, and law enforcement from the Kingdom of Bahrain, has led to the arrest of 13 suspects of Asian and African nationalities, all under the leadership of an Asian drug dealer operating from outside the UAE. This operation highlights the ongoing commitment to combating drug-related crimes and underscores the importance of regional cooperation in tackling this pressing issue.
Arresting a Criminal Network
The National Anti-Narcotics Committee disclosed that the operation lasted for an entire month, culminating in the capture of the gang’s leader outside the UAE. Following this, he was brought to the country to face justice. “The operation involved meticulous surveillance, where task forces tracked the suspects and coordinated their movements. Investigations revealed they were receiving instructions from the drug dealer abroad to distribute various quantities of narcotics throughout different areas in the UAE,” the committee explained.
Impressive Seizures of Narcotics
During the operation, authorities seized a staggering 56,623 kilograms of narcotics, along with 8,159 pills of controlled psychological substances. Additionally, a large quantity of electronic cigarettes filled with hashish oil was confiscated, with the total value nearing 3,300,000 dirhams. The National Anti-Narcotics Committee reiterated that their mission is to protect the community from this dangerous scourge.
A Comprehensive National Strategy
This operation aligns with a comprehensive national strategy aimed at drying up the sources of drug trafficking. The approach goes beyond merely pursuing dealers within the UAE; it intends to reach the principal figures managing these criminal networks from abroad, which pose threats to the security and stability of the United Arab Emirates. The committee emphasized the importance of international and regional cooperation as a fundamental pillar in addressing such transnational crimes.
Legal Framework and Operational Capabilities
The National Anti-Narcotics Committee confirmed that it possesses the legal frameworks and operational capabilities needed to take necessary actions against drug dealers managing criminal networks from abroad. This ensures not only the protection of society but also serves as a deterrent to anyone who considers targeting the UAE and its citizens with this dangerous threat. Through continuous coordination with friendly and allied security forces, the committee has effectively tracked down members of this gang, successfully thwarting their criminal plans and ensuring that those involved face justice.
