الشارقة 24:
The Social Services Department in Sharjah has successfully concluded its participation in the inaugural edition of the “Al Wasit Heritage Festival” held in the city of Al Dhaid. The department showcased a dedicated booth featuring products from local families associated with its branches in the central region, which encompasses the cities of Al Dhaid, Al Bataeh, Al Madam, and Mleiha.
Diverse Offerings Highlighting Cultural Heritage
The booth presented a diverse array of exhibits, including traditional Emirati dishes, homemade food products, handicrafts, and heritage crafts, alongside perfumes and incense. These offerings not only reflected the rich tapestry of skills and capabilities within these families but also underscored the connection of their products to national identity and Emirati heritage.
Empowering Local Families through Community Engagement
The department leverages such community events to create opportunities for local families to participate and market their crafts. By introducing the public to their products, it supports their home-based ventures and enhances their productive capacities, significantly contributing to their economic stability.
Facilitating Direct Engagement and Skill Recognition
Wadima Al Teneiji, the director of the department’s branch in Al Dhaid, noted that the participation of local families in the festival was a valuable opportunity for them to showcase their products and highlight their skills in preparing traditional dishes and crafting home-based items. Moreover, it allowed them to engage directly with the audience and better understand their preferences.
Commitment to Supporting Sustainable Income Generation
Al Teneiji emphasized the department’s commitment to encouraging local families by providing them with avenues to participate in community and heritage events. This approach not only expands their marketing opportunities but also bolsters their home-based enterprises and aids in transforming their skills into sustainable income sources.
