The UAE rescue team is actively engaged in combating extensive forest fires raging across several regions of Albania. As part of their humanitarian efforts, the team has conducted an impressive 700 water drops, demonstrating a significant commitment to aiding the affected areas. This operation showcases their extensive use of specialized aircraft and collaborative efforts aimed at mitigating the devastating impacts of these wildfires.
Comprehensive Aerial Operations
Since its arrival in Albania, the UAE rescue team has conducted 28 specialized aerial missions utilizing two Black Hawk helicopters. These operations have resulted in 700 precise water drops targeting the hotspots of the fires. More than 1,298 tons of water have been deployed, significantly contributing to the containment and reduction of the wildfire’s spread.
Overcoming Challenges
The team faces significant challenges, including extremely high temperatures and the rugged geography of the affected areas. Despite these difficulties, the UAE rescue team continues to effectively coordinate with relevant Albanian authorities. This collaboration is crucial for ensuring that all fire suppression efforts are efficient and that resources are allocated where they are needed most.
Support from UAE Leadership
The mission commenced in the forests of Gramsh, Bujan, and the coastal area of Vlorë, in direct response to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. His leadership emphasizes the importance of supporting the Republic of Albania in its battle against these destructive forest fires.
Continuous Coordination Efforts
Meetings between the UAE team and Albanian officials are ongoing to formulate strategies that will expedite firefighting operations. Monitoring efforts are also in place for areas where firefighting operations have successfully extinguished flames, aimed at preventing any resurgence. The 700 water drops conducted by the UAE rescue team demonstrate the UAE’s commitment to international solidarity during times of crisis.
