The Ministry of Health and Prevention in the UAE has announced the launch of an enhanced system for the validation and accreditation of medical leave and companion leaves. This new initiative enables licensed healthcare facilities to submit validation requests directly on behalf of patients and their companions. It also allows for the automatic approval of requests that meet the necessary criteria without the need for a new application, significantly reducing the steps needed to complete the service and expediting the process for users.
Streamlining Government Services
This development is in line with the government’s strategy to eliminate bureaucratic barriers, aiming to strengthen the UAE’s leadership and global competitiveness in providing the most efficient, straightforward government services. The improvement allows the healthcare facility that issued the leave to handle the validation request, facilitating a more seamless experience for the user. This approach allows individuals to focus on recovery instead of navigating through procedural steps that can be managed by healthcare providers.
Commitment to Enhancing Service Delivery
Abdullah Ahli, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, emphasised that the enhancement of the medical leave validation and medical report services demonstrates the ministry’s dedication to fulfilling the vision of the UAE government. This vision is focused on fundamentally transforming service delivery by redesigning processes and simplifying the user journey, fostering a collaborative environment amongst different entities to create a significant impact on community members’ lives through more accessible, efficient, and proactive services. This initiative will further bolster the UAE’s leading position and competitiveness in global governmental performance and service quality.
Flexibility and Integration at the Forefront
Ahli noted that the ministry aims to develop a service system that is more flexible, sustainable, and capable of processing transactions in an integrated manner, achieved through data sharing among government entities. Services are tailored to meet user needs, with the elimination of bureaucracy measured by the tangible improvement in individual experiences and governmental efficiency. The ministry is committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement to elevate service quality, reinforce confidence in institutional performance, and solidify the UAE government’s status among the most efficient globally.
Key Improvements in the New System
Among the key enhancements is the automatic connection between the validation and accreditation services for eligible cases, negating the need for new applications. This applies to employees of the federal government and local governments in Ajman, Umm Al-Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah per the established guidelines. These changes are designed to simplify procedures and ease the burden on service users. Additionally, healthcare facilities are now empowered to submit validation requests for companions’ leaves alongside those for patients, addressing the needs of companions and streamlining the process for medical leave approvals.
