The UAE rescue team is actively engaged in combating extensive wildfires across various regions of Albania. Their ongoing efforts demonstrate a commitment to international solidarity and collaboration in the face of environmental emergencies.
Continuous Efforts in Albania
The UAE rescue team is dedicated to extinguishing the widespread wildfires currently threatening several areas in the Republic of Albania. Since arriving in the country, the team has conducted a total of 27 specialized air sorties using two Black Hawk helicopters. These operations have resulted in 680 precision water drops on fire hotspots, utilizing over 1,261 tons of water. This extensive effort has significantly contributed to containing the fires and reducing their spread.
Challenges on the Ground
Despite the remarkable progress, the team faces considerable challenges on the ground. High temperatures and the rugged geography of the affected regions complicate firefighting efforts. The UAE rescue team is working closely with relevant Albanian authorities, maintaining ongoing coordination to navigate these difficulties effectively.
Strategic Areas of Focus
Throughout their mission, the team has targeted various key areas, including the forests of Gramsh, the region of Balshi, and the coastal area of Vlorë. This initiative aligns with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to support Albania in overcoming this environmental crisis.
Coordinated Efforts for Success
Coordinated meetings between the Emirati team and Albanian officials continue to focus on developing strategies that will expedite firefighting operations. Additionally, ongoing field monitoring is being implemented in areas where fires have been extinguished to prevent any resurgence. The UAE rescue team is determined to bring this crisis under control through these comprehensive efforts.
