UAE India Business Council Reports Significant Growth in Economic Ties

The Emirati-Indian Business Council is witnessing impressive acceleration in economic and investment relations between the two countries. Following a recent event held in Dubai under the theme “Strength in Resilience,” the council affirmed its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing economic partnerships. This growth is fueled by the strategic visions of both nations’ leaders, as well as the deep historical, economic, and humanitarian ties that bind them.

The event welcomed notable figures, including Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to the UAE; and Satish Kumar Sivan, Consul General of India in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. They were joined by a distinguished group of officials, business leaders, and investors from both nations.

Expanding Opportunities for Cooperation

Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi emphasized that economic, investment, and trade relations between the UAE and India are experiencing significant growth. He noted that non-oil trade between the two countries exceeded $76 billion last year, marking a 17% increase despite global trade challenges and supply chain disruptions. He expressed optimism about the vast opportunities available for enhancing collaboration, particularly in new markets like Africa, through integrated investments, logistics services, and supply chains. The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) not only facilitates bilateral trade but also broadens pathways for companies to access global markets.

He also highlighted the UAE’s ongoing efforts to bolster its infrastructure and logistical capabilities while diversifying supply sources to ensure business continuity and supply chain resilience. The UAE is connected to over 400 cities, ports, airports, and logistics centers worldwide.

A Partnership Turning Challenges into Opportunities

Dr. Deepak Mittal commented on the ability of the Emirati-Indian partnership to transform challenges into opportunities, benefiting not just the two countries but the broader region and the world. He assured that India stands shoulder to shoulder with the UAE, rooted in mutual trust, friendship, and a shared vision.

The relationship between the nations has undergone a significant transformation, thanks in part to the guidance of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The CEPA, signed in 2022, has provided a robust impetus for bilateral cooperation.

The event also marked the introduction of a new leadership chapter in the council, with Neelesh Fidan taking over as president and Adeb Ahmed as co-president, succeeding the previous leadership. Additionally, new research initiatives were launched focusing on tourism, joint investment in Africa, education, retail sectors, and maximizing the benefits of the CEPA.

The event concluded with a reiteration of the importance of continued collaboration between governments and the private sector to accelerate innovation and explore new business and investment opportunities, thereby enhancing the journey of shared growth between the UAE and India.
