In Dubai, His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Member of the Cabinet and Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, honoured a distinguished group of healthcare professionals and institutions at the sixth Annual Health Awards 2026. The ceremony took place at the Grand Hyatt Dubai, attended by approximately 1,000 guests including high-profile personalities, leaders, and representatives from both the public and private healthcare sectors.
Categories and Recognition
This year’s awards featured over 50 competitive categories, celebrating excellence in clinical practices, surgical innovation, public health, wellness leadership, quality of life, medical education, scientific research, and patient care. The event also recognised 15 Emirati citizens for their outstanding contributions to the development of the national healthcare system.
Promises of Commitment and Innovation
In his address, His Excellency expressed his happiness in presenting the Annual Health Awards, extending thanks to Dr. Thumbi Mohideen and the health magazine team for organising such an important event. He remarked, “These awards, now in their sixth iteration, honour individuals and institutions whose skills, innovations, and dedication enhance healthcare in the United Arab Emirates.” He emphasised the commitment of healthcare professionals to protecting lives and promoting health and well-being within the community.

Sheikh Nahyan further stressed that the United Arab Emirates, under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, prioritises the health and well-being of its citizens. He noted that the nation’s healthcare system is rooted in strict standards of excellence, embracing innovation while attending to the needs of every individual and all segments of society.

Highlighting the diverse talents within the healthcare sector, he stated, “When I look at the award winners today, I reflect on a vital truth about our country; men and women from many nationalities work side by side in our healthcare institutions, uniting under a shared goal: the wellness of patients and community health.” He called attention to the values of tolerance and coexistence that are practically implemented every day in the healthcare field.
The Role of Families in Healthcare
His Excellency also spoke on the crucial role of families in supporting health workers, stating, “This year is the Year of Family in the UAE, carrying special significance in healthcare. Good health begins at home, where families teach their children healthy habits and support one another during illness and recovery.” He extended gratitude to the families of the awardees for their continued support and sacrifices, often accompanying their loved ones in a demanding profession.
Technological Advances in Healthcare
Addressing the technological transformations in healthcare, he noted, “We are meeting at a time of remarkable technological change. For example, artificial intelligence assists doctors in diagnosing diseases, supports medical research, and opens new avenues for improving healthcare.” He underscored that while technology advances medical knowledge, it cannot replace the essential qualities of compassion, ethical consideration, accountability, and trust between patients and healthcare providers.

In closing, His Excellency expressed his congratulations to all award winners saying, “Your achievements are a source of pride for you, your families, your institutions, and our nation. I encourage you to share your knowledge and continue to elevate the standards of healthcare in the UAE.”

The awards were facilitated by the global consulting firm Knight Frank, which conducted an independent and meticulous assessment of all nominations based on merit, in collaboration with a panel of distinguished healthcare professionals. Dr. Thumbi Mohideen, founder of the Thumbi Group and publisher of Health Magazine, acknowledged Sheikh Nahyan’s continued patronage and congratulated all winners during his speech. The magazine has been pivotal in celebrating the contributions of healthcare professionals in the UAE and the GCC.
