Sharjah Electricity Concludes Future Engineer Camp, Empowering 100 Participants

Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has concluded its Future Engineer Camp, a summer initiative designed to nurture young talent and build practical awareness of science, technology and engineering among children in Sharjah.

The camp, held from 6 to 16 July 2026 at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, brought together 100 boys and girls aged 12 to 14. The closing ceremony also included the honouring of partner organisations, sponsors and participants, with shields and certificates of participation presented in recognition of their contributions.

Investing in future skills

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Rashid Al Marzooqi, Director of the Media and Communications Department at Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, said the authority is not only focused on developing its technical operations, but also on nurturing the skills and potential of future generations.

He said the authority is working to instil in children and young people a passion for science, technology and engineering, in line with its strategy of investing in people and building minds capable of innovation and sustainability.

Al Marzooqi added that the camp achieved its aim of preparing students for a promising professional future and equipping them with the technical skills they need. He said it also introduced them to the authority’s work in producing, desalinating, transmitting and distributing water, as well as its pioneering natural gas network project, which covers wide areas of Sharjah.

He noted that the camp’s varied activities and programmes helped make productive use of the students’ summer break while giving them an enjoyable and beneficial experience.

Workshops, field visits and awareness activities

According to Saif Al Naqbi, Head of the Awareness and Education Section, the closing of the Future Engineer Camp marked the culmination of a journey of knowledge and enthusiasm over two weeks, with the event serving as a beacon for young minds and a first step towards future leadership.

He said the camp included 14 diverse workshops, along with field visits to rationalisation platforms, where participants learned about tools and methods used to install water-saving devices. The programme also included a recreational trip to the Museum of the Future.

Al Naqbi added that the field and leisure visits organised as part of the camp helped reinforce positive behaviour among participants and increased their awareness of landmarks and tourist destinations. He described the camp as a model of social responsibility.

The authority said the programme also focused on developing participants’ creative and innovative abilities, strengthening their skills in energy-related fields, and introducing them to sustainable and renewable energy sources, as well as water and energy conservation practices and safety procedures.

Positive feedback from participants

Participants praised the well-organised programme, describing the workshops as useful and varied. They also commended the services provided by the authority throughout the camp and its commitment to their future, safety and wellbeing.

The authority said it will continue to organise specialist activities that enhance the knowledge and skills of students, in line with its ongoing efforts to serve the community, promote the rational use of energy and water, and encourage innovation. It said this reflects its firm belief in the importance of shaping young personalities and supporting their different talents and abilities.

Partners and sponsors recognised

At the closing ceremony, cooperating entities were honoured for their contribution to the camp, including Sharjah Police General Command, Tri-Tech, Sharjah Civil Defence Authority and Sharjah Museums Authority. The authority said these organisations helped deliver educational and interactive programmes that enriched the participants’ experience and strengthened the camp’s outcomes.

Several sponsors were also recognised, including Zullal Water Factory, Sharjah Co-operative Society and Al Qasba Village, in appreciation of their role in supporting community and educational initiatives.
