The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority is embarking on a significant initiative to bolster the water supply infrastructure in Khorfakkan. As part of its strategic plans to enhance water security and improve the efficiency and sustainability of water networks, the authority is moving forward with the construction of two new water tanks at the Siwa 1 and Siwa 2 stations. Each tank will have a storage capacity of 2 million gallons, with a total project cost of 28,230,000 dirhams.
Strengthening Water Storage and Distribution
Engineer Saud Abdulaziz, Director of the Khorfakkan Office at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, explained that this project will significantly support the water storage and distribution system in the region. The new tanks are expected to double the storage capacity at the respective stations and enhance the network’s flexibility, allowing it to effectively meet increasing demand. This development is essential for ensuring consistent and efficient water supply under various conditions.
Timelines and Future Expectations
The authority is committed to expediting the project, with plans to have both tanks operational by the end of 2026, ahead of the contractual delivery date set for March 2027. This initiative is poised to play a vital role in the overall water system of Khorfakkan and aligns with the authority’s ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and improve operational efficiency.
