The Public Works Department of Sharjah has reported significant progress in the development of parks in the city of Kalba, with completion rates reaching up to 90% in some projects. This initiative is part of a comprehensive developmental plan aimed at enhancing quality of life and providing integrated recreational facilities for residents. The success of these projects is in coordination with the Kalba Municipal Council, addressing the needs of local residents amidst the region’s urban expansion.
Updates on Ongoing Park Projects
One of the notable projects, Al Saf 7 Park, has achieved a completion rate of approximately 91%. Spanning an area of 5,000 square metres, the park features a supervisor’s room, service room, well-equipped toilets, a football pitch, and a meticulously designed children’s play area. These amenities cater to various age groups, creating a community hub that combines sports and leisure.
Recently, the department also completed construction works at Al Saf 8 Park, which has been handed over to the relevant authorities. This expansive park covers 65,700 square metres and includes an 884-metre running track, 2,310 square metres of pedestrian pathways, a service room, and decorative lighting that enhances the site’s aesthetic appeal. Additionally, it comprises four service buildings that house a women’s prayer room, toilets, a rest area, café, service rooms, and supervisory offices, thus providing a holistic environment to meet visitors’ needs.
Improvements at Al Sidra Park
The comprehensive development of Al Sidra Park has seen the completion of all construction works. This includes the establishment of a 75-square-metre gym equipped with changing rooms and internal toilets, featuring glass facades that overlook the park. Upgrades have also been made to existing toilets, including a dedicated facility for persons with disabilities, complemented by a ramp for easier access. Maintenance work on the café, supervisor’s room, and guard’s room has involved fresh paint, new tiles, and updated internal cabinets.
Progress at Al Ghil Park (2)
Al Ghil Park (2) has reached an 82% completion rate, with plans to finalise the project in the fourth quarter of this year. Covering an area of 4,589 square metres, this park will include a guard room, service room, toilets, and a children’s play area designed to provide a safe and family-friendly environment.

She noted that the department is committed to executing comprehensive projects that consider population density and urban expansion while distributing services effectively. The department asserts that the park developments in Kalba are integral to a wider enhancement initiative being implemented across various cities in the emirate, with the goal of bolstering recreational infrastructure and providing modern facilities that promote sustainability and societal welfare.
