UAE Dominates Middle East Airline Capacity in November

The aviation sector in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has once again emerged as the leader in the Middle East in terms of scheduled seat capacity for November, boasting a total of 7 million seats. This impressive figure accounts for 20.6% of the region’s overall capacity of 34 million seats, according to data from the international aviation analytics firm, OAG.

Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Ascendance

Abu Dhabi International Airport has made significant strides, climbing from fifth to fourth position in the regional seat capacity rankings. In November, it recorded 1.69 million seats, marking a commendable growth of 7.9%. The increase in capacity is indicative of the airport’s commitment to enhancing its services and offerings.

Dubai International Airport Remains a Major Player

Leading the way, Dubai International Airport continues to dominate both regionally and globally, with a staggering 4.47 million seats scheduled for November. The airport’s substantial capacity underscores its position as a vital hub for international aviation.

Growth of Regional Airlines

In the competitive landscape of regional airlines, Etihad Airways has secured fourth place with a capacity of 1.41 million seats, reflecting an 8.4% increase. This makes it one of only three airlines in the region to experience growth in scheduled seating capacity this month. Meanwhile, Emirates Airline has taken the lead with 3.05 million seats scheduled for November, reinforcing its status as a major airline in the region.

Consistent Growth Throughout the Year

The UAE’s strong performance is not just a November phenomenon; it has maintained its position as the top destination for scheduled aviation seat capacity throughout the year. Data for October indicated that the UAE achieved 7.2 million seats, with a notable rise during the summer season when the country recorded a total of 14.3 million seats across July and August. This summer surge represented a significant 30.4% share of the region’s total seat capacity during that period.

A Bright Future Ahead for UAE Aviation

Looking into the future, the UAE’s aviation sector shows no signs of slowing down. Throughout 2025, it consistently led the Middle East in scheduled seat capacity each month, with a reported 158 million passengers welcomed at its airports, reflecting a growth of 6.7% compared to 2024. Additionally, the number of aircraft movements exceeded one million, showcasing a growth of 6.8%. This persistent momentum underscores the resilience and dynamic nature of the UAE’s aviation industry.
