His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Advisory Council, commended the outcomes of the second session of the eleventh legislative term, which concluded recently. He noted that it was one of the most active sessions in terms of the number of laws discussed and parliamentary questions raised during the meetings, as well as the number of visits made by council members to government departments and institutions in the emirate, which fostered significant interaction among them.
Real Interaction with Community Issues
His Excellency Al Nuaimi explained that the second session witnessed 17 meetings compared to 12 in the first session. The number of draft laws in this session reached 10, up from 5 in the previous session, with 205 requests submitted compared to 150. The council successfully produced 22 recommendations, compared to 11 in the first session, indicating a genuine engagement from council members with community issues.
Discussions with Institutions Reflect Community Needs
He pointed out that the positive impact of the advisory council is measured by citizen satisfaction with the services provided by government institutions. Under this council’s umbrella, we discuss and evaluate government performance, and in collaboration with the Executive Council, we develop proposals and solutions to be submitted to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. He emphasized that discussions with institutions stem from the pulse of the community and directly address citizen interests, reflecting the leadership’s vision that places the citizen at the core. This is where the council’s role comes into play in activating this vision through communication with institutions under this parliamentary umbrella.
A Humanitarian Approach Focused on Citizens through Services
His Excellency the Chairman of the Sharjah Advisory Council praised the humanitarian approach that the emirate, under the leadership of the Ruler of Sharjah, has adopted, focusing on citizens through the services provided by various institutions and their engagement regarding social and health matters. This is a result of collaboration among all stakeholders in the emirate. He commended the significant responsiveness from government institutions and departments, especially those concerned with citizen affairs and needs, such as the Sharjah Housing Department, which performs its role excellently in pursuit of citizen happiness and meeting their needs.

His Excellency Al Nuaimi noted that the council aims to institutionalize its work more than to operate as a faction, by discussing issues that affect the citizens of Sharjah and all who reside in the emirate. He emphasized that the role of advisory council members is to overcome challenges and engage with citizens to fulfill their needs and aspirations.

The Chairman of the Sharjah Advisory Council highlighted the emirate’s care for families and children and its efforts to share its experiences in this regard beyond the UAE. He praised the pioneering roles played by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, in promoting Sharjah’s experience to wider Arab communities, whether through the Quarter Century Foundation for Leadership and Innovation or the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.
