The unveiling of these funds occurred during the Cultural Investment Conference in Riyadh, a key event organized by the Ministry of Culture under the patronage of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
In attendance were notable figures including the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Cultural Development Fund (CDF), Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, who emphasized the importance of these investments in fostering growth and innovation.
Saudi Arabia Launches Culture Funds
The first initiative is a groundbreaking investment fund for the fashion sector, equipped with a substantial capital of SR300 million ($80 million). This fund, managed by Merak Capital with CDF as a key investor, aims to identify and invest in both Saudi and international fashion enterprises, alongside innovative startups and brands poised for expansion.
Moreover, it will facilitate enhancements in the supply chain and service development, adhering to global standards in asset and risk management to ensure sustainable growth within the sector.
The second fund, dedicated to the film industry, has a capital of SR375 million ($100 million). Managed by BSF Capital and in collaboration with a prominent global film production company, this fund is focused on high-quality and innovative projects encompassing film production, distribution, and infrastructure development.
This film fund is expected to broaden the industry’s horizons both locally and internationally, fostering sustainable growth while remaining aligned with the ambitious goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030.
Through the establishment of these targeted funds, the Cultural Development Fund is committed to offering tailored financial solutions that not only stimulate private sector engagement but also promote innovation. These efforts underscore Saudi Arabia’s aim to transform into a global hub for cultural and creative industries, thereby enriching its cultural landscape.
