In an eagerly awaited event, the “تغطية مباشرة” from the historic Qasr Al Hosn in Abu Dhabi sees the Ramadan Crescent Observation Committee convening to announce the results of the moon sighting for the holy month of Ramadan, 1447 AH. Under the leadership of Sheikh Abdullah bin Sheikh Al-Mahfoudh bin Beya, Chairman of the Emirates Fatwa Council, and the presence of his deputy, Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Dhakiri, this gathering aims to certify the sighting of the crescent moon, a tradition that marks the commencement of Ramadan.
Following the Maghrib prayer, the committee began its work, reviewing reports from field observation teams and the findings from the official observation sites across the country. The panel meticulously studies the various testimonies collected from different regions, adhering to the established religious standards and procedures for this sacred process.
The committee’s meeting reflects its mandate to ensure accurate moon sighting and public announcements in a unified and institutionalized manner, enhancing community trust in the associated processes. This transparency is crucial for the congregation during the holy month.
In a prior invitation, the Emirates Fatwa Council encouraged community members to actively participate in moon sighting by sharing their observations through a designated online platform. This initiative not only revives the tradition of moon sighting but also fosters communal engagement in this significant event.
As the committee finalizes its discussions, the outcome of the Ramadan moon sighting will be announced through official channels, ensuring that the community is informed in a timely manner. The anticipation surrounding this announcement underscores the importance of the crescent moon’s sighting for the onset of Ramadan.
