Integrated Transport Launches Smart Modular Vehicles in Abu Dhabi
In a pioneering move that reflects modern trends in transportation, the Integrated Transport Center in Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of smart modular vehicles, marking the first model of its kind in the world. This innovation was unveiled during their participation in the “Drift X 2025” exhibition as part of the “Abu Dhabi Autonomous Systems Week.” These vehicles are part of the integrated transport vision aimed at enhancing mobility efficiency in the capital.
Concept of Smart Modular Vehicles
Smart modular vehicles are characterized by their flexible design, allowing them to be connected or separated based on operational needs. Developed by “NEXT,” they represent an independent category of vehicles designed to facilitate movement in urban areas. This system provides a rapid response to changes in demand by connecting or separating smart units according to the number of passengers or type of use, thereby easing traffic flow and reducing congestion and carbon emissions.
Collaboration and Strategic Partnerships
The Integrated Transport Center leads this innovation in collaboration with the Emirates Driving Company and Liftango, along with Paradigma Innovation Hub. The first operational trials of these smart modular vehicles will be conducted on Yas Island, paving the way for a new era of smart transportation in the capital. This project is part of a comprehensive plan to expand future autonomous driving applications.
Environmental and Social Impacts
These vehicles will play a crucial role in improving traffic conditions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi while also contributing to the development of smart operating systems and remote control. Through these initiatives, the Integrated Transport Center aims to enhance the efficiency of the transport system. By adopting these smart modular vehicles, Abu Dhabi continues to affirm its position as a global hub for innovative transportation technologies, improving the sustainability of transport in the city.
Dr. Abdullah Hamad Al-Ghafli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Center, stated that the adoption of smart modular vehicles represents a strategy that supports the emirate’s vision of building a more integrated and intelligent transport system. This step reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to future solutions that contribute to positive changes in the transport sector.
