The 25th edition of the Dubai Airports Exhibition, titled “The Future of Innovation in Airports Starts Here,” highlights the global focus on streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency, and establishing green infrastructure in airports. Scheduled to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 12 to 14, 2026, the event is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the President of Dubai Airports and Emirates Group. Over 140 global exhibitors will participate, attracting more than 7,000 visitors from over 30 countries, including 120 key buyers.

A Gathering of Industry Leaders

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum remarked, “The Dubai Airports Exhibition, a premier B2B platform, highlights emerging technologies, fosters strategic partnerships, and supports national and regional priorities, providing opportunities for meaningful dialogue between regulators, operators, and solution providers.” He further expressed the importance of Dubai’s role in shaping the future of the global aviation sector and ushering in a new era of opportunities and excellence in air travel. “The exhibition will help elevate our shared ambition to build smarter, safer, and more sustainable airports, enhancing the quality of services and facilities for both airlines and passengers,” he added.

A Hub for Knowledge Exchange

This exhibition serves as a prestigious knowledge-sharing platform in the airport sector, particularly focusing on the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia. Concurrently, two significant conferences will also take place: the “Global Airport Leaders Forum” and the “Women in Aviation Conference in the Middle East.” According to Mai Ismail, Event Director at RX Middle East, the organizing body of the exhibition, more than 90% of attendees emphasized their participation’s vital role in supporting and developing their businesses. “We anticipate that this 25th edition of the exhibition will bring about a new qualitative leap, introducing exclusive first-time showcases and enhancing sustainable communication among key stakeholders in the aviation sector,” she stated.

Innovations Set to Transform Aviation

The event promises to showcase groundbreaking innovations that will delineate the future of the aviation industry and set new standards of excellence in this essential sector. According to CAPA data, there are currently 1,031 airport construction projects globally, amounting to $766 billion, with Asia-Pacific driving growth as of July 2025. The Airports Council International forecasts that the number of global travelers will reach approximately 17.7 billion annually by 2043, with the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia poised to play significant roles in this expanding aviation landscape, injecting substantial investments into airport infrastructure development and enhancing passenger experiences.

Investments and Sustainability Goals

Investments in this region are projected to reach about $151 billion for expanding airport capacity by 2040. Airports are increasingly focusing on sustainability through innovations in renewable energy, electric and autonomous vehicles, energy-efficient building designs, waste reduction, and digital tools to optimize operations. The goal is to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, thereby minimizing the environmental impact of airports and air travel. The Airports Council International affirms that airports in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions are gearing up for extensive development operations, with a total investment of $240 billion aimed at enhancing existing facilities and constructing new “green” airports between 2025 and 2035.
