Fitch Upgrades UAE Tourism Sector Growth Prospects

In a recent report, Fitch Ratings affirmed its positive outlook for the tourism sector in the UAE, highlighting expectations for strong growth in international tourist numbers. The report reveals optimistic projections that reflect the UAE’s growing status as a leading global tourist destination. This analysis is essential for understanding how the tourism sector will continue to thrive through 2029.

Sustained Growth in Tourist Numbers

Fitch expects the number of incoming tourists to the UAE to grow by 7.2% annually by 2025, reaching 28.9 million tourists compared to 27 million in 2024. This growth is supported by the increasing demand for hospitality services, clearly underscoring the importance of tourism as a central driver of the UAE’s economy.

Sustained Increase in Demand for Hotel Accommodation

The report anticipates that the ongoing growth of the tourism sector will lead to an increase in demand for hotel accommodations in the short and medium term. The total number of hotel nights in the UAE is expected to reach 111.2 million nights by 2025, up from 105.4 million nights in 2024. Looking ahead to 2029, this number is projected to rise to 125.3 million nights.

Stimulating Hotel Chains and Strong Prospects for New Projects

Fitch also predicts that the number of hotels in the UAE will increase from 1,550 establishments in 2025 to 1,720 by 2029, resulting in a rise in the number of hotel rooms from 264,900 to 294,100 during the same period. This investment in hotel infrastructure further demonstrates Fitch’s positive outlook for the UAE’s tourism sector.

Continuous Development in Hospitality Sector Performance

These dynamic projections reflect sustained growth in the hospitality sector in the UAE. In light of the positive figures, the hotel sector in Dubai continues to attract an increasing number of international visitors, surpassing the numbers recorded in previous years. Reports indicate that the number of hotel rooms in Dubai is expected to reach 158,845 by the end of 2025.

This data strongly signifies the UAE’s ability to enhance its position as a leading tourist destination, as Fitch’s positive outlook reflects the anticipated prosperity in the tourism sector. Ongoing developments in this sector continue to stimulate economic growth and meet the needs of global visitors in the best possible way.
