In a remarkable achievement that showcases the spirit and determination of the UAE youth, 17-year-old Fatima Abdul Rahman Al Awadi has reached the summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia, standing at an impressive 5,642 meters. This accomplishment makes her the youngest Emirati to conquer the highest peak in Europe. Her journey is a testament to the belief that life is too short to settle for the ordinary—”الحياة قصيرة جداً لنكتفي بالمعتاد.”
A Step Towards Global Challenges
This accomplishment is part of Fatima’s ambitious quest to climb the “Seven Summits” around the world. Last year, she successfully ascended Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa, with the support of Dar Al Tamweel, a leading financial institution in the UAE committed to empowering the next generation. Facing harsh weather conditions and rugged terrain, Fatima proudly raised the UAE flag, spreading a message of hope and inspiration to Arab youth, particularly young women.
A Heartfelt Tribute
Fatima dedicated her achievement to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” recognizing their steadfast support for Emirati women and youth empowerment. She expressed, “Without our leadership’s faith in us and their continuous encouragement, I wouldn’t have been able to reach this pinnacle… I dedicate this achievement to those who taught us that the Emirati knows no impossibility.”
A Role Model for Future Generations
Fatima stands as an inspirational figure for ambitious Emirati youth, serving as a beacon of dreams that transcend borders. Drawing from her experiences in volunteer work and leadership skills, she aims to merge her passion for adventure with community-focused objectives. She plans to launch environmental and humanitarian initiatives in the future to support marginalized communities and protect nature.
Embracing the Journey
Reflecting on her journey, Fatima remarked, “I may be closer to the starting line than the finish line, but I believe that age does not limit capabilities, and big dreams grow alongside learning. الحياة قصيرة جداً لنكتفي بالمعتاد; we must explore the world and discover ourselves.” She emphasized that achieving peaks goes beyond mere physical summits; it’s about affirming the vital role of Emirati and Arab youth, especially young women, in leadership, adventure, and creating change.
Fatima also expressed her profound gratitude to her parents, stating, “To my mother, Dr. Aml Al Qubaisi, you have been my anchor and source of strength… and to my late father, Abdul Rahman Al Awadi, you taught me to ascend with determination until I can touch the clouds.” Her words serve as a powerful reminder that life is a journey to be embraced fully, underscoring her belief that “الحياة قصيرة جداً لنكتفي بالمعتاد.”
