The dynamics between the East and West have evolved significantly, marking an era of both challenges and opportunities. The article titled “West – East 1” delves into the unique geopolitical landscape, focusing on how the UAE has positioned itself amidst these shifting tides. As the nation confronts global challenges, including regional threats and economic volatility, its unwavering commitment to development and human capital continues to shine as a beacon of hope and resilience.
The challenges arising from the exceptional situation, the geopolitical risks at both regional and global levels, and the threat of global terrorism do not hinder the successful Emirati model of growth and development based on human capital investment. Instead, they serve as a catalyst for the UAE to stand as a beacon of cultural brilliance among nations, driving the national ambition for ongoing construction, development, and global leadership.
Protecting the homeland and its achievements is a duty for all: citizens and our extended family of residents. Life has not stopped; rather, we have witnessed significant progress. A notable advancement on the eastern coast has seen the port of Fujairah increase its capacity by 300%, thanks to enhanced equipment and human competencies in just a few weeks. Additionally, the continuous operation of exporting oil through the project that transports crude oil from the Habshan fields in Abu Dhabi directly to the port of Fujairah has enabled direct oil exports to the Indian Ocean, completely bypassing the Strait of Hormuz.
Between 1.5 and 1.8 million barrels are transported daily via the Habshan-Fujairah pipeline (ADCOP), a vital strategic project for ADNOC. The operations to transport oil from the inland fields of Abu Dhabi to the port of Fujairah on the Gulf of Oman commenced to circumvent the Strait of Hormuz, with millions of barrels stored along the line officially known as the ADCOP pipeline beginning in mid-July 2012. The port of Fujairah can now accommodate over 70 million barrels of oil, making it one of the most important global centers for storage and ship fueling, solidifying its status as an Emirati model for optimal strategic hedging projects.
The recent announcement to expedite the construction of a new pipeline, “West – East 1,” aims to double export capacity by 2027 as part of a strategic project roadmap that enables the UAE to achieve its targets. These projects aim to increase production capacity to five million barrels per day by 2027 and will undoubtedly enhance Fujairah’s position as a key oil export center to meet global demand, leading to optimal revenue generation.
This also contributes to maintaining the UAE’s status as a global energy capital and accelerates the diversification of our non-oil economy. These steps align with the vision of the Centennial Leader and the celebration of the last barrel of oil.
What comes next? The UAE will remain protected by God’s will, followed by its wise leadership and the efforts of its loyal citizens and residents, preserving a unique human model of construction and development in a volatile region plagued by individuals seeking destruction and discord.
