Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation Concludes “Children’s Literature Workshop” in Tunisia
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation has celebrated its efforts in developing children’s literature by concluding the events of the “Children’s Literature Workshop” in Tunisia. This workshop, organized by the Dubai International Writing Program, demonstrated the foundation’s commitment to fostering creativity and literary writing among youth in the Arab world.
Interaction and Creativity in the Children’s Literature Workshop
Over the course of four months in the capital, Tunis, several individuals interested in children’s literature participated in a comprehensive workshop supervised by Dr. Wafa Thabet Al-Mazghani. The workshop featured interactive training that included brainstorming and idea exchange with a professional team. This approach provided participants with the opportunity to work on their creative ideas and transform them into ready-to-publish children’s stories.
A Reinforced Message for Arab Creativity
Jamal bin Huwaireb, the Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, highlighted the importance of this workshop, stating: “The events of the Dubai International Writing Program embody the foundation’s message in supporting the Arab intellectual movement and encouraging creativity in various fields.” He also affirmed that the Children’s Literature Workshop aligns with the foundation’s vision to invest in young talents and enhance their specialized writing skills.
Comprehensive Training Content
The workshop included four in-person training sessions, held over three days for each session, covering various topics to ensure participants received the necessary knowledge. The sessions explored the history of children’s literature, Arabic literature, and different age groups. They also addressed essential aspects such as planning, character development, and the temporal and spatial framework of the story.
Fruitful Results and Future Aspirations
It is noteworthy that this was the second workshop in Tunisia and the third in the Maghreb region. To ensure the best possible support, the workshop included remote follow-up that involved manuscript reading and self-editing supervision. This process enabled trainers to support participants and enhance the quality of outputs to meet the needs of Arab and global libraries.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation continues its commitment to supporting projects focused on children’s literature, thereby reinforcing the important role of literature in building future communities. Through the Children’s Literature Workshop, the foundation contributes to developing a new generation of writers capable of producing exceptional literature that resonates with readers’ hearts.
