According to His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, the export figures confirm a significant leap in trade relations. In a statement to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the Dubai Business Forum – United States event held in New York, he mentioned that imports from the U.S. have also shown impressive growth, rising from approximately AED 61 billion in 2018 to AED 82.2 billion in 2024, reflecting a 34.7% increase. This upward trend signals not only an expansion in trade but also a deepening of economic ties between the two regions.
Investment Opportunities
The allure of Dubai as a business hub continues to attract significant investments from the U.S. Al Mansoori emphasized that from 2015 to 2024, Dubai managed to attract 1,474 foreign direct investment projects from the United States, amounting to AED 79.6 billion. Notably, the tourism and hospitality sector led the way in these investments, accumulating AED 28.3 billion, followed by software and IT services at AED 20.2 billion. The business services sector came third with AED 5.7 billion, while entertainment and telecommunications also drew considerable investments.
Growing American Business Confidence
Al Mansoori shed light on the increasing confidence of the American business community in Dubai’s economic prospects. The number of active American companies registered with the Dubai Chamber soared by 224% between the end of 2021 and September of this year, jumping from 1,139 to 3,690. A notable 42% of these companies are engaged in services and trade, while 33% focus on real estate, leasing, and business services. This growth signals a robust interest from American firms in the diverse opportunities available in Dubai.
