Dubai Launches Comprehensive Traffic Plan for New Year Celebrations

As part of its preparations for the upcoming year 2026, the Roads and Transport Authority has announced a comprehensive traffic and operational plan for New Year’s Eve celebrations. Expected Traffic Closures

Starting at 4:00 PM, several main roads in downtown Dubai will be closed, including Al Ittihad Road, Lower Financial Center Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, and Burj Khalifa Street. According to the Roads and Transport Authority, these closures will increase gradually based on traffic density and visitor flow.

At 8:00 PM, the closure of Kings Avenue will commence, while traffic will be completely halted on Sheikh Zayed Road from 6:00 AM on Wednesday, December 31, until 2:00 AM on Friday, January 2. These measures will help reduce congestion and ensure the safety of attendees.

Public Transport Services

Public transport services will not be disrupted, as the authority has confirmed that the Dubai Metro will continue to operate with increased services at stations near the celebration sites. Among the stations that will provide enhanced services are Emirates Towers, Financial Center, World Trade Center, and Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall.
