Dubai Unveils Groundbreaking Digital Initiative for Local Farmers

On 2 August 2026, Dubai announced the launch of its innovative digital initiative, “Muzar’a Al-Firij,” in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, the General Command of Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, and the ride-hailing company Careem. This initiative aims to streamline home gardening and horticulture services, ensuring that residents have access to licensed, safe solutions starting from September.

Enhancing Community Gardening

The “Muzar’a Al-Firij” initiative represents a significant step towards the organisation of horticultural tasks within residential areas, guided by comprehensive standards. It seeks to provide qualified and licensed personnel to guarantee high-quality services while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of local neighbourhoods. This model of community service demonstrates effective partnerships between public authorities and the private sector, reflecting Dubai’s commitment to fostering sustainable practices and enhancing green spaces.

How the Initiative Works

This service will facilitate organised access to agricultural professionals, allowing residents to order gardening services through specialised entities, ensuring regular maintenance, the installation and upkeep of irrigation systems, and expert consultation—all accessible via a single platform. This initiative aims to highlight best sustainable practices that will enhance the attractiveness of Dubai’s green areas.

Collaborative Efforts for Successful Implementation

A signing ceremony to enhance the initiative was attended by key figures including Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs; and Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghaleeta, Director-General of Dubai Municipality. This partnership is set to promote digital solutions, improve service efficiency, and ensure compliance with regulations governing residential gardens.

A Smart and Integrated Experience

Dubai Municipality is spearheading this initiative in coordination with relevant governmental bodies to create a user-friendly experience that connects residents with qualified gardening specialists. Furthermore, the programme supports community engagement by offering training and awareness programs aimed at instilling sound agricultural practices.

Safety and Community Awareness

Dubai Police will implement ongoing awareness campaigns across various residential areas to inform the public about preventive measures and protocols. These efforts will streamline service delivery and cultivate a secure living environment, enhancing community safety and quality of life in Dubai.

Ensuring Quality and Efficiency

Careem will develop and manage an integrated app, coordinating with companies for registration and qualification processes. The platform will facilitate seamless access to high-quality and safe services while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Additionally, the pricing of services will be tailored to be accessible for all, encouraging early adoption of digital solutions and promoting positive consumer behaviour.

Official Statements and Future Vision

Brigadier General Harb Mohammad Al Shamsi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police for Criminal Affairs, stated: “Dubai Police is committed to executing joint community initiatives with partners across various government and private sectors, aimed at enhancing quality of life and providing advanced services that meet the aspirations of residents.”

Brigadier Dr Ali Ben Ajief Al Zaabi, Assistant Director-General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, emphasised that structured regulations are vital for the success of community services, highlighting the importance of compliance and the welfare of all stakeholders involved.

Bridging Public and Private Enterprises

Engineer Nasser Bouchehab, Executive Director of Planning and Governance at Dubai Municipality, remarked: “The Muzar’a Al-Firij initiative combines community service with effective collaboration across public and private sectors, enhancing organisation within the gardening profession and providing high-quality, reliable home gardening services.”

Moreover, Mudhafar Sheikha, CEO of Careem, expressed pride in this venture, noting that its goal is to facilitate daily life in the region by delivering reliable and high-quality gardening services to Dubai residents.
