The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai has officially launched a new season of the “Generations” initiative for the academic year 2026-2027. This season, developed in coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, comes with a comprehensive set of enhancements designed to foster student engagement in content creation for the initiative.
Enhancing Student Engagement
This new season builds on the positive impact of previous iterations of the initiative. It features an updated approach to programme delivery that aims to resonate more closely with students’ realities and interests. The updated format prioritises dialogue, participation, and experience through interactive workshops, discussion sessions, awareness lectures, and digital competitions, spanning the three academic terms. The initiative targets students aged six to 17 from both public and private schools in Dubai, as well as teaching staff and parents.
A Commitment to Holistic Development
Ahmad Darwish Al-Mehairi, General Director of the department, stated that “Generations” represents a long-term investment in building human capital. He expressed that the new season is characterised by a more integrated vision, viewing students as partners in creating impact. This partnership aims to connect schools and families within a unified framework that contributes to the development of well-rounded, conscious individuals.
He emphasised, “Positive change becomes more sustainable when the roles of family, school, and community institutions align in guiding future generations and fostering their awareness.”
Collaboration for Comprehensive Reach
Continued cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority enhances the initiative’s reach across diverse student demographics, creating an integrated educational environment. This collaboration aims to develop content that meets students’ needs while addressing relevant challenges and issues they face.
New Development Tracks
The new season features several innovative developmental tracks, including “Generations Dialogue with Generations.” This track offers outstanding high school students the chance to share their experiences and insights by leading lectures for primary and middle school students, thus promoting the values of role modelling and peer learning. This initiative positions students as active agents in fostering positive change.
Strategic Alignment with Future Goals
Aisha Abdullah Miran, General Director of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, noted that the new developments align with Dubai’s Education Strategy 2033. This strategy places the learner at the heart of the educational experience and focuses on building character, enhancing skills, values, and the capacity for informed and positive decision-making. She remarked, “We appreciate the new season’s provision for greater student involvement in dialogue, content creation, and peer learning, alongside expanding the roles of parents and educators in enhancing the student’s learning journey and growth.”
Fostering Values and Skills
Miran concluded, “We hope that the initiative will help instill values and identity, while also developing students’ dialogue skills, critical thinking, and responsibility, impacting their lives both inside and outside of school.”
Introducing “Generations Ambassador”
The new season will also introduce the “Generations Ambassador” initiative, featuring the selection of an Emirati student who will serve as the face of the initiative, promoting its programmes, documenting content, and showcasing its outcomes throughout the academic year. Additionally, the “Ask Generations” platform will host open discussions based on topics chosen by students, addressing phenomena and issues pertinent to their lives, thus allowing for shared discourse and collaborative problem-solving.
Throughout the upcoming academic year, “Generations” will continue to provide tailored programmes for various age groups, emphasising values, identity, awareness, and positive behaviour. This focus aims to empower students to engage thoughtfully with their surroundings, fostering a generation that is more self-aware, proud of its values and identity, and positively influential within their families, schools, and communities.
