Abu Dhabi Ports Boosts Supply Chain Efficiency with New Capacity

In a significant move to bolster supply chains, Abu Dhabi Ports has successfully handled over 70,000 standard containers through the pivotal Fujairah Ports. This achievement, coupled with the management of over 100 cargo vessels daily during recent regional developments, underscores the group’s vital role in enhancing operational flexibility and ensuring seamless trade flow within the UAE and across the region.

Strategic Investment in Infrastructure

During an interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM) at the “Make in the UAE 2026” event, Sief Al Mazrouei, the CEO of Ports at Abu Dhabi Ports, articulated the importance of strategic investment in developing advanced infrastructure and logistical routes. These initiatives are critical for maintaining the efficiency of supply chains under various conditions. Al Mazrouei emphasized how Abu Dhabi, guided by visionary leadership, has recognized the strategic necessity of these investments to ensure the continuous flow of goods in local and regional markets.

Integrated Logistics Networks

Al Mazrouei highlighted that the supply chains in the UAE are intricately linked to a comprehensive logistics network that incorporates Port Zayed, Port Khalifa, and Fujairah Ports. This connectivity extends to neighboring countries like Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait. The group has successfully activated pre-planned alternative routes, notably the “Green Corridor,” which allows goods to reach Fujairah Ports and be processed as if they were at Port Khalifa or other ports in the UAE. This strategically enhances the positioning of Abu Dhabi Ports as a central hub in the region.

Adapting to Changing Conditions

According to Al Mazrouei, the activation of alternative routes and the redirection of freight traffic through land, rail, sea, and air corridors have directly contributed to the resilience of supply chains in the Arabian Gulf despite regional challenges. The group has launched new regional container shipping services and expanded their fleet to 24 vessels dedicated to containers and bulk goods, with future plans to increase this capacity further.

Ensuring Consistent Shipping Services

These strategic measures have been instrumental in maintaining regular shipping services to Port Khalifa along the three main trade corridors connecting the eastern ports of the UAE with the Arabian Sea and the Red Sea. Shipping services provided by Sefin Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been redirected via Fujairah Ports and Port Khor Fakkan on the Gulf of Oman, creating an alternative logistics gateway for the UAE and the Gulf Cooperation Council region.
