Sharjah City Municipality has trained 212 inspectors from various relevant departments in a specialised workshop on judicial arrest procedures and the art of dealing with the public, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop human capabilities and strengthen inspectors’ ability to carry out their duties within legal and professional frameworks.
Training delivered in five batches
Organised in cooperation with the Sharjah Police Science Academy, the workshop was held across five training batches during the first half of 2026. It focused on building participants’ knowledge of the legal foundations governing judicial arrest work, introducing them to the duties, powers and procedures linked to their roles, and enhancing effective communication skills and public-facing etiquette to better prepare them to handle a wide range of field situations efficiently and professionally.
Supporting institutional performance
His Excellency Obaid Saeed Al Tani, Director-General of Sharjah City Municipality, said developing the professional and legal capabilities of inspectors is a fundamental pillar in supporting the institutional work system. He noted that such training programmes help improve the efficiency of regulatory performance, unify practices and procedures, and entrench the principles of neutrality and professionalism, thereby supporting the quality of field decisions, protecting the rights of community members and strengthening compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Investment in human capital
Reem Abdullah Al-Rousi, Director of the Human Resources Department at Sharjah City Municipality, said the workshop forms part of the municipality’s plan to invest in human capital and equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to keep pace with work requirements. She added that training 212 inspectors in five batches reflects the municipality’s keenness to expand the benefit of specialised training programmes and link them to the needs of field operations.
She also said the programme’s impact extends to strengthening communication skills with clients, improving their experience and raising institutional performance across the various service and regulatory sectors.
Strategic partnership
The workshop comes within the strategic partnership between Sharjah City Municipality and the Sharjah Police Science Academy, supporting national capacity-building and the enhancement of regulatory and field performance. It also contributes to the application of procedures in a lawful and balanced manner, while promoting awareness and compliance in a way that positively reflects on quality of life and preserves the civilised appearance of Sharjah.
