The label first introduced the Wool Trophy Awards back in 1963, in Australia, to champion the efforts of woolgrowers focused on achieving superior wool quality.
Today, Vellus Aureum stands as a symbol of excellence, evoking the mythical pursuit of the Golden Fleece from Greek legends. This collection exemplifies ZEGNA’s relentless quest for the finest materials and craftsmanship.

“How clothes, personal history and attitudes merge is focal for us. In this collection, items are nonchalantly chosen and spontaneously mixed, recounting an encounter of generations in the name of Italian style. The man I have in mind has raided a wardrobe in which pieces have been collected over the decades, for their emotional and material value. Working with washed wools and Vellus Aureum, we have been able to transfer lived life into the garments. There is something quintessentially ‘Torinese’ to this collection, in the cultured attitude the shapes suggest and the insouciant manner they are worn, which is a particular way of being Italian,” remarked Alessandro Sartori, ZEGNA’s Artistic Director.
The collection was showcased with models navigating landscapes evocative of Australia’s unique terrain, visually representing the harmonious relationship between craftsmanship and nature.
The offerings feature a range of innovative designs, including deconstructed blazers with low, two-button closures, knee-length coats adorned with cashfur collars, and stylish blousons paired with lapels or stand-up collars and elasticated waists.
Sartori has placed a strong emphasis on knitwear, showcasing deep v-necks layered over shirts, beautifully integrating texture and style. The color palette boasts nuanced tones such as fossile, ginepro, dark foliage, serra, castoro, Gattinara red, and falesia, enriched with accents of Sessera, arnica, giglio montano, terracotta, and nero opaco.
Materials used in this exquisite collection include wool cashmere, cashmere cotton corduroy, wool mohair cover, flannel wool, and Oasi Cashmere, fabric choices that reinforce the luxurious essence of Vellus Aureum.
Among the standout pieces is the Il Conte jacket, available in shearling, as a gilet, and in Oasi Cashmere jersey, highlighting ZEGNA’s commitment to blending tradition with contemporary fashion sensibilities.
