The Government of the United Arab Emirates has launched an innovative initiative aimed at enhancing service delivery through artificial intelligence. This move, under the auspices of the National Committee for Assistive Artificial Intelligence, is designed to empower ministries and governmental bodies to develop, test, and validate services enriched with this cutting-edge technology, focusing on improving the quality of life for citizens.
Transforming Government Services
During the unveiling of the Assistive Artificial Intelligence Applications Laboratory, His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chair of the National Committee for Assistive Artificial Intelligence, emphasized the UAE’s commitment to evolving a future-oriented government model. This model leverages advanced technologies to serve humanity, enhance service efficiency, and ensure a seamless, rapid, and integrated government experience that remains accessible around the clock.
Aiming for Global Excellence
Al Gergawi stated, “The National Assistive Artificial Intelligence project aims for the UAE Government to be the best globally in its services, operations, and procedures. The Assistive Artificial Intelligence Applications Laboratory transforms this partnership into more efficient and user-friendly proactive services.” This initiative represents a significant stride towards delivering advanced human-centric government services.
Empowering Government Entities
The newly established laboratory operates within the framework of the National Committee’s initiatives and its fifth path dedicated to government services. It aids governmental entities in identifying priority services and processes, testing AI-supported solutions in collaboration with users, monitoring user experiences, and pinpointing areas for improvement. The goal is to achieve a tangible positive impact in society while raising the quality and efficiency of government services.
Ensuring Quality and Readiness
The laboratory serves as a mechanism for adopting AI-enhanced government services, evaluating these offerings, and supporting entities throughout their development, testing, and launch phases. It addresses feedback from user experiences, ensuring that services are adequately prepared and their quality verified prior to launch and scaling efforts. This initiative is aimed at standardizing the quality of AI-supported services, addressing user experience challenges early on, and expediting service readiness for rollout and expansion, guaranteeing that government experiences meet targeted standards.
Revolutionising Service Delivery
Furthermore, the laboratory enables ministries and government bodies to redesign their services using systems capable of analysing data, taking actions, and executing tasks, thereby enhancing speed, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The laboratory will also support the development of civil servants’ skills and establish governance frameworks to ensure the responsible, secure, and effective use of assistive artificial intelligence.
