UAE Travelers Seek Unique Winter Experiences from Culture to Adventure

As winter approaches in 2025, UAE travelers are shifting their holiday preferences, according to Expedia’s Winter Travel Outlook. This report highlights a growing interest in cultural city breaks, alpine adventures, and tropical escapes among UAE residents seeking diverse experiences. With the desire for richer travel experiences, more travelers are planning trips that combine exploration, adventure, and relaxation during this season.

Key Travel Insights for UAE Residents

The report outlines that February 3 and 15 are the most economical days for travel, while January 3 and 4 are the least busy, providing optimal opportunities for cost-effective stays and ample availability.

Popular Destinations on the Rise

Interest in global travel has surged, with searches skyrocketing for a variety of destinations. Madrid has seen a 165 percent increase, followed closely by Amsterdam at 155 percent, St. Moritz at 125 percent, and Krabi at 135 percent. These figures illustrate a strong interest in both different climates and experiences, with UAE travelers exploring options beyond their borders. Local destinations such as Fujairah, Marrakesh, and Cairo are also gaining traction as ideal cultural getaways for those seeking shorter and more meaningful escapes.

Diverse Experiences Await

“This winter, UAE travelers are embracing variety like never before, from tropical escapes in Thailand and festive European cities in Madrid and Amsterdam to ski adventures in St. Moritz,” said a spokesperson for Expedia Group. “To make the most of these trips, timing is key; staying on February 3 or 15 can unlock the best rates, while bundling flights and hotels can save hundreds.”

The findings indicate that European cities such as Madrid and Amsterdam top the list for winter travel searches, captivating visitors with their rich cultural offerings, vibrant festive markets, and seasonal allure. Meanwhile, interest in colder destinations has markedly risen, with places like St. Moritz, Toronto, and Prague witnessing significant popularity as travelers yearn for picturesque snow-covered landscapes over warmer desert scenery.

Thailand Remains a Favoured Destination

Thailand continues to be a primary choice, with Phuket, Bangkok, and Krabi offering a wonderful blend of serene beaches, cultural richness, and affordability. These tropical escapes attract those looking for a warm getaway during the colder months.

Expedia’s report also emphasizes important travel dates: December 22 and 28 are predicted to be the most crowded days, while December 21 and January 2 are expected to yield the highest accommodation rates. For those planning ahead, the UAE National Day holidays on December 1 and 2 present an excellent opportunity for a quick winter escape.

The insights suggest that UAE travelers are increasingly prioritizing experiences over mere destinations, actively seeking cultural depth, outdoor activities, and relaxation all within a single season.
