The United Arab Emirates has unveiled an ambitious initiative titled “Artificial Intelligence for Development,” investing a substantial one billion dollars to bolster and finance AI projects across Africa. The announcement was made by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, during a speech at the G20 Summit.

His Highness affirmed the UAE’s commitment to promoting sustainable growth through broader international partnerships and innovative financing solutions that contribute to development in emerging economies. To facilitate the implementation of the “Artificial Intelligence for Development” initiative, the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX), under the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, will collaborate with the UAE’s International Aid Agency.
