UAE Food Industry Projected to Reach $43.98 Billion by 2029

The upcoming UAE Future Food Forum 2025 is poised to be a pivotal event for the food and beverage industry, with projections indicating the sector will nearly triple, reaching an impressive $43.98 billion by 2029. Under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, this year’s forum, set to take place on September 23–24 at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre, aims to unite global leaders from throughout the food value chain to enhance sustainable and resilient food systems.

Gathering for Strategic Collaboration

The UAE Future Food Forum will mark its seventh edition this month, showcasing the robust momentum in the UAE’s food and beverage sector, which soared to a remarkable value of $13 billion (AED 47.7 billion) in the first half of 2024. This rapid growth reflects the nation’s ongoing commitment to advancing its food ecosystem and ensuring food security.

Forecasted Growth in the F&B Industry

The UAE food sector’s trajectory is impressive, with expectations to reach $43.98 billion (AED 161.6 billion) by 2029, growing at a compound annual growth rate of 17.09%. “The UAE’s adoption of cutting-edge solutions will not only drive the industry’s growth but also bolster food security,” stated Abdullah Bin Touq, the Minister of Economy and Tourism. He emphasized that the forum represents a significant step in fostering collaboration among government, private sector entities, and academic institutions.

A National Initiative for Food Security

The UAE Food Cluster is a strategic initiative aimed at uniting stakeholders throughout the food ecosystem, furthering the nation’s goals in food security and sustainability. The Minister underlined that it supports new generations of producers and farmers, guiding them in adopting best practices in food production and agriculture. This year’s Forum aims to strengthen global connectivity, linking the UAE with food ecosystems across Africa, Central Asia, and Europe.

Innovative Initiatives and Global Connections

Notable initiatives at the forum include the establishment of a Knowledge Hub to disseminate insights and best practices, as well as a Global Buyers Programme designed to bridge local producers with international markets. The UAE’s strategic position as a gateway to the $65 billion (AED 238.7 billion) GCC market greatly enhances these efforts, aiming to fortify supply chains and solidify the country’s status as a regional trade and food security hub.

As Saleh Lootah, Chairman of the Cluster Board, remarked, “The food ecosystem today is increasingly driven by the convergence of trade, technology, policy, and production. The Future Food Forum 2025 offers a single-point agenda where these priorities can be unified with a clear forward-looking direction.”

Notable speakers this year will include prominent leaders such as Rania Abou Samra from Nestlé Middle East and North Africa, Dr. Ian Roberts from Bühler Group, and Tom Harvey from Spinneys, among others.

The two-day agenda consists of ministerial sessions, technical panels, and stakeholder dialogues focused on key topics such as trade opportunities, supply chain resilience, digital transformation, and innovations in nutrition. As the global food and beverage industry evolves, the outcomes from the UAE Future Food Forum 2025 are expected to significantly bolster international collaboration, supporting the UAE’s vision of making the food sector a key contributor to economic diversification while cementing its role in the global food economy.
