Tunisian Olive Oil Takes Center Stage at Gulfood 2026

Tunisia is set to enhance its olive oil exports and expand its reach into new markets by participating in the upcoming Gulf Food Expo 2026 in Dubai. As one of the largest global food industry exhibitions, Gulf Food Expo 2026 offers a pivotal platform for local producers to connect with international importers, particularly in the Gulf, Asia, and North America. This participation aligns with a national strategy focused on boosting the export of high-value packaged olive oil. The Technical Center for Packaging and Packing, under the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy, will be part of the Tunisian delegation at the 31st edition of the expo.

Strengthening International Trade Partnerships

The Tunisian delegation consists of 13 specialized companies in olive oil packaging and export, aiming to foster international trade partnerships and reduce reliance on exporting bulk oil, which generates lower revenues compared to bottled products. This strategic move underscores the significance of olive oil in Tunisia’s economy. According to the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development, the volume of olive oil exports exceeded 340,000 tons by the end of 2025, indicating a robust sector.

Shifting to High-Value Products

During the 2024-2025 season, more than 42,000 tons of packaged olive oil were exported to over 62 markets, reflecting a gradual transition in export structures towards higher-value products. Tunisia currently holds the position of the world’s largest exporter of organic olive oil, bolstering its competitive edge in key markets such as the European Union and North America, where there is a growing demand for high-quality products that meet stringent environmental standards.

Increased Visibility and Engagement

The Tunisian pavilion at Gulf Food Expo 2026 is expected to draw significant attention from visitors and industry stakeholders, driven by the global reputation of Tunisian olive oil for its quality, diversity, and environmental benchmarks. This exposure not only enhances the prospects for professional meetings but also facilitates the establishment of new commercial partnerships during the exhibition days.

Aiming for Global Leadership

Through its participation in Gulf Food Expo 2026, Tunisia aims to maintain its status as a top exporter of olive oil globally while accelerating access to new markets and improving revenue from this vital sector. The country’s commitment to elevating its olive oil industry and embracing new opportunities at international platforms reflects a broader ambition to harness its agricultural heritage for economic growth.
