His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, has reiterated the lasting impact of Mohamed Ahmed Al Mur on the cultural landscape of the UAE. In a recent post on the social platform X, Sheikh Maktoum celebrated Al Mur’s profound contributions to Dubai’s cultural scene.
A Cultural Pillar of Dubai
In his tribute, Sheikh Maktoum noted, “In Dubai’s memory, His Excellency Mohamed Ahmed Al Mur stands out as a prominent name associated with the emirate’s cultural journey.” Al Mur significantly shaped the culture of Dubai through his leadership in various esteemed institutions. He was instrumental in the establishment and presidency of the Dubai Cultural Council and the Cultural and Scientific Association, as well as in founding the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library. Throughout his career, Al Mur authored over twenty works, many of which have been translated into multiple languages, contributing to a rich cultural heritage that reflects Dubai’s identity and transformations.
Commitment to National Heritage
Sheikh Maktoum also underscored Al Mur’s vital role in federal work, having chaired the Federal National Council from 2011 to 2015. “Mohamed Al Mur will remain a beacon of Emirati culture and one of Dubai’s dedicated sons who played a key role in shaping its cultural present and securing its legacy in human memory,” he added.
