Sharjah Social Services Launches Youth Volunteer Program “Mubadroon 8”
Recently, the Department of Social Services in Sharjah launched its youth volunteer initiative, “Mubadroon 8.” This dynamic program is designed for young people aged 13 to 17 and runs from August 4 to 14. With strong participation from various governmental entities, Mubadroon 8 aims to instill a culture of volunteerism, fostering both human values and essential life skills among participants through a series of hands-on activities and training sessions.
Four Community Initiatives
Over the course of two weeks, “Mubadroon 8” features four distinct community initiatives. The first activity commenced on Monday, August 4, with the launch of the volunteer program “Arawi Atshak,” in collaboration with the Social Education Department. Participants from both genders prepared and distributed meals to working individuals, an effort designed to enhance a sense of responsibility and teamwork. In parallel, a training session titled “Fostering Volunteering and Social Responsibility” was conducted.
The following day, Tuesday, saw the execution of the volunteer program “Isaad Al-Marda,” in partnership with Sharjah Hospitals. Participants gathered gifts and delivered them to patients during field visits, aiming to promote initiative and humanitarian values. This day also included a workshop focused on teamwork skills and event organization.
On Wednesday, participants visited a nursing home to implement the program “Mahaasin Al-Birr,” which comprised interactive sessions with the elderly and engaging community activities. This initiative aims to cultivate leadership skills in youth while enhancing values such as compassion and community connection.
The first week concluded on Thursday at Sharjah International Airport with the program “Let Your Travel Be Enjoyable,” where volunteers handed out informational flyers to travelers about prohibited items in luggage. This practical training reinforced public speaking and presentation skills, instilling confidence in participants.
Commitment to Community Giving
In this context, Hessa Al Hamadi, Director of Community Cohesion at the Department of Social Services, emphasized the significance of the program in shaping young people’s awareness of community giving. She noted that “Mubadroon 8” focuses on instilling ethical and societal values such as empathy, altruism, belonging, and engagement with various community groups.
Al Hamadi added, “At the department, we are committed to offering quality volunteer programs that align with the aspirations of the new generation. We provide them with the opportunity to actively apply the principles of volunteerism, bolstering their self-confidence and preparing them to become effective leaders in the near future.” The framework of Mubadroon 8 not only supports practical learning but also emphasizes the importance of consistent practice in acquiring valuable skills and values.
As the program unfolds, it aims to leave a lasting impression on the participants, reinforcing the vital role of volunteerism in community development and personal growth.
