The Sharjah Award for Volunteer Work delivered an interactive workshop titled “The Young Volunteer” at the Parents’ Council of Students in Sharjah City, التابعة لدائرة شؤون الضواحي, as part of the second season of the summer camp “Your Summer with Dhaahi”. The session was designed to help children better understand volunteering, while encouraging values of giving and social responsibility through activities suited to their age and interests.

Interactive activities to introduce volunteering

The workshop featured a series of engaging activities that introduced children to the concept of volunteering and its importance in serving the community. It also highlighted the role they can play in creating a positive impact through simple initiatives and everyday practices, helping to nurture a spirit of cooperation and participation.

This initiative forms part of the Sharjah Award for Volunteer Work’s wider efforts to spread a culture of volunteering across all segments of society, especially among children and young people, through educational and awareness programmes that help prepare a generation aware of responsibility, initiative and teamwork.

Building awareness from an early age

Saud Al Shamsi, Executive Director of the Sharjah Award for Volunteer Work, said the “Young Volunteer” workshop is one of the initiatives aimed at building early awareness among children of the importance of volunteering and introducing them to their role as active partners in serving the community.

She added: “Through our programmes directed at children, we are keen to instil the values of volunteering and giving from an early age, and to strengthen their understanding of social responsibility through innovative and interactive methods that suit their age groups, in the belief that building a volunteer generation begins with raising awareness and encouraging positive participation in society.”

Joint efforts to support children’s development

Al Shamsi noted that the collaboration with the Parents’ Council of Students in Sharjah City during “Your Summer with Dhaahi” reflects the importance of coordination between community and educational institutions in supporting programmes that develop a child’s personality and reinforce a sense of belonging and giving.

The Sharjah Award for Volunteer Work continues to implement programmes and initiatives aimed at embedding a culture of volunteering and encouraging different age groups to take part in volunteer work, further strengthening Sharjah’s position as a leading model in community and humanitarian action.
