The Sharjah Police General Command has achieved a significant milestone by securing first place in the Sharjah Volunteer Work Award, held in its 23rd edition for 2026. This achievement was realised in the category of “Best Volunteer Opportunity Creator” for the initiative titled “Dental Treatment and Implantation for Inmates of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre.” The award ceremony took place in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamid Al Qasimi, Head of the Statistics and Community Development Department in Sharjah.
A Commitment to Community Welfare
Brigadier General Faisal bin Nassar, General Director of the Community Protection and Prevention Department, emphasised that this accomplishment embodies the Sharjah Police’s commitment to fostering a culture of volunteerism. He noted that the first-place victory reflects the synergy of institutional efforts and the leadership’s dedication to leveraging community partnerships to launch impactful initiatives. These efforts are aimed at enhancing the quality of life, supporting humanitarian work, and strengthening the role of law enforcement in serving the community.
Collaboration Enhancing Inmate Care
Brigadier General Abdullah Rashid Alai, Director of the Reform and Rehabilitation Centre, elaborated that this initiative brought in volunteer dentists from the University of Sharjah, in collaboration with supportive entities, to provide dental treatment and implants for the centre’s inmates. This initiative has not only ensured advanced specialised healthcare but has also contributed to improving the quality of life for the inmates. Moreover, it has reinforced community partnerships by harnessing the expertise of volunteer health professionals to deliver specialised medical services, thereby embedding values of social responsibility and enhancing the sustainable impact of volunteer work within correctional institutions.
