In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Sharjah Museums Authority has unveiled a new visual identity that embodies its evolution and aspirations as it embarks on its third decade. This fresh identity unites the authority and its twenty museums under a modern and cohesive visual framework that pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of the emirate of Sharjah while affirming the authority’s commitment to preserving museum collections and enriching knowledge, learning, and exploration.
A Reflection of Cultural Commitment
The new identity reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, who has solidified the role of culture and knowledge at the heart of the emirate’s developmental agenda. Designed to incorporate elements inspired by the arches that define Sharjah’s museums and historical buildings, the identity also employs motifs derived from Arabic calligraphy, crafting a contemporary visual language that encapsulates creativity, movement, exploration, and communication.
An Integrated Visual System
The logo, graphic elements, and icon system create a comprehensive visual ecosystem. The colour palette intertwines tradition with innovation, ensuring that the new identity does not merely enhance the visual appearance of the authority but marks a new chapter in its development. This transformation strengthens its cultural role and international presence, supporting its aspirations to provide more interactive and engaging experiences for visitors and communities.
Voices Behind the Identity
Commenting on the launch of the new identity, Ms Maysa Saif Al Suwaidi, General Director of the Sharjah Museums Authority, stated: “The new identity expresses the depth of our mission and our forward-looking aspirations, affirming our commitment to safeguarding heritage, enriching knowledge, and maintaining the vibrancy of museums as spaces for learning, exploration, and cultural dialogue.”
