On Thursday, the Sharjah Media Academy, under the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, celebrated the conclusion of its tenth edition of the summer training programme “Future Media Professionals.” The closing ceremony took place in Al Jada, Sharjah, attended by His Excellency Salem Ali Al Ghaithi, the Director of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, alongside department heads, programme supervisors, participating students, and their parents.
Empowering Young Minds
The programme, which ran from July 13 to July 30, 2026, successfully targeted 150 young participants aged between 10 and 18 years. Its primary aim was to enhance their media skills while preparing a generation equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving media landscape.
A Diverse Training Experience
Participants were divided across three training locations within the emirate. The Sharjah Broadcasting Authority hosted 100 students, while an additional 50 students attended sessions at the Eastern and Al Wasat television stations. This structure offered them practical training experiences in real media environments.
Focus on Modern Media Techniques
The programme concentrated on incorporating the latest technologies in media production. It featured specialised workshops covering topics such as television presenting, radio production, and photography and editing using smart devices. Additionally, it introduced students to media editing with artificial intelligence and the application of AI in journalism, complemented by hands-on training within studios and simulated media work settings.
A Comprehensive Training Experience
According to Shaima Abdallah Abdul Rahim, Director of the Sharjah Media Academy, “In this tenth edition, we aimed to provide a comprehensive training experience that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. We focused on future media skills, enabling students to utilise artificial intelligence tools in content creation, thereby enhancing their readiness to adapt to the shifts within the media industry.”
Shaping Future Talent
She highlighted that the programme plays a critical role in discovering and nurturing media talent at an early age, refining their skills through direct training in a professional environment. This approach significantly boosts participants’ self-confidence and fosters a spirit of teamwork among them.
