معهد الشارقة للتراث يشارك بمعرض أبوظبي للكتاب بأكثر من 1250 إصداراً توثق التراث الإماراتي والعربي والعالمي وتدعم الترجمة والحوار الثقافي
The Sharjah Institute for Heritage is making a notable appearance at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, showcasing a wealth of cultural and intellectual contributions that highlight its commitment to publishing and documenting heritage. The institute proudly presents a collection of over 1,250 titles that encompass Emirati, Arab, and global heritage themes.
Its publications cover a diverse range of subjects, including folklore, oral storytelling, customs and traditions, folk arts, dialects, maritime heritage, traditional crafts, and other essential elements that comprise the cultural memory of both the UAE and the Arab world.
The institute places special emphasis on translation and knowledge dissemination connected to global cultures, anchored in its belief that preserving heritage requires not only safeguarding it but also presenting it with authentic and principled perspectives while remaining open to the experiences and cultures of other peoples. This approach fosters cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
Dr. Abdulaziz Muslim, the institute’s president, articulated that participation in the fair underscores his conviction that books are among the most vital vessels for preserving cultural memory and transmitting it across generations. He noted that with over 1,250 titles, the institute’s ongoing efforts in research, documentation, and publishing are evident, affirming its dedication to establishing a specialised heritage library that serves as a reference for researchers, scholars, and enthusiasts in various fields of heritage.
Dr. Muslim further explained that the institute views publishing as a cultural project that transcends mere documentation of the past. It aims to create knowledge, enhance creativity, and enrich the cultural landscape of the UAE and the Arab world. The diversity of its publications—spanning Emirati, Arab, and global heritage, alongside the translation of several works into Arabic—opens new doors for understanding other cultures while promoting civilizational dialogue. This initiative also presents Emirati heritage through authentic perspectives and sophisticated methods that meld knowledge, creativity, and enjoyment.
