The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority has announced the launch of two new electricity distribution stations operating at a voltage of 33 kilovolts. These facilities include an advanced experimental system station and the first phase of the Industrial 3 “A” station, with the second phase of the Industrial 3 “A” station nearing completion at approximately 95%.
Expansion of Energy Distribution Network
In addition, the Authority is currently constructing a total of 15 stations operating at voltages of 33/11 kV, with an overall investment amounting to 381,513,038 dirhams. Four additional stations are slated for completion within this year, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the electricity distribution network. This initiative aligns with the Authority’s ongoing plans to develop and modernise the infrastructure of distribution networks to keep pace with the escalating demand for energy and the rapid urban and economic growth within the emirate.
Strategic Vision for Enhanced Efficiency
Engineer Hamad Al Teneji, Director of the Energy Transfer Department at the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority, stated that the 33 kV energy transmission and distribution stations are part of a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the electricity grid while ensuring sustained service delivery to consumers in line with the highest standards of quality and safety.
Meeting Future Energy Demands
The new stations will be strategically located throughout the emirate to support future expansions, developmental projects, and new residential areas. This will directly contribute to increasing the reliability of the network and accommodating the rising electrical loads.
Commitment to Sustainable Development
Engineer Abdullah Al Kous, Deputy Director of the Energy Transfer Department, highlighted that these projects are progressing according to specific timelines under the supervision of specialised engineering and technical teams. He emphasised that the Authority’s investment in developing and constructing distribution stations reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting sustainable development in Sharjah and providing optimal services to citizens, residents, and various economic sectors.
